Urban Agrifood Systems Global Workshop Outcome Paper. Rome, Italy, 9-11 September 2024
From 9 to 11 September 2024, over 100 participants from five continents gathered at FAO headquarters in Rome for the Urban Agrifood Systems Global Workshop, co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
Participants from local and national governments, UN agencies, academia, development agencies, city networks, and NGOs came together to share insights and chart a collective path forward. These diverse groups of stakeholders—specializing not only in food but also in health and environmental issues gathered to discuss strategies for transforming urban agrifood systems and to agree on a course of action, laying the groundwork for the co-creation of a five-year Roadmap with concrete modalities, roles, and actions across different groups and regions.
This Outcome Paper summarizes the three-day workshop's discussions, challenges, and insights. It highlights key messages and outlines the next steps, drawing on input from a pre-workshop survey and the interactive sessions.
