Transforming urban food systems: Unlocking the potential of open innovation in African cities
Co-hosted by EStà and ICLEI Europe as part of AfriFOODlinks project, this session aims to put the spotlight on open innovation and its role in transforming urban food systems. The session will present insights into what open innovation can bring to urban food systems and offer concrete examples from Està of their work within AfriFOODlinks. Expert organisations and local government representatives will be invited to share their perspectives and experience on how cities can unlock the untapped potential of open innovation in Africa.
The hope is to empower session participants with a better understanding of an unfamiliar and underexplored topic – open innovation – and to see how through reframing public policies that shape interactions between institutions, enterprises and social actors, cities can create an enabling environment for open innovation to flourish.

Co-organisée par ICLEI Europe et EStà dans le cadre du projet AfriFOODlinks, cette session vise à mettre en lumière le rôle de l'innovation ouverte dans la transformation des systèmes alimentaires urbains. La session donnera un aperçu de ce que l'innovation ouverte peut apporter aux systèmes alimentaires urbains et offrira des exemples concrets du travail d’Està sur le sujet, notamment dans le cadre d'AfriFOODlinks. Durant l’événement, divers experts et des représentants des gouvernements locaux seront invités à partager leurs perspectives et expériences sur la manière dont les villes africaines peuvent bénéficier du potentiel inexploité de l'innovation ouverte.
L'objectif est de permettre aux participants de mieux comprendre un sujet encore sous-exploré et de discuter des moyens dont les villes disposent pour créer un environnement propice au développement de l'innovation ouverte - notamment en repensant les politiques publiques qui définissent les relations entre institutions, entreprises et acteurs sociaux.
