Improving Access to Nutritious Food in Urban Markets

The ICLEI CityFood Interest Group on Transforming Food Markets, in partnership with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), will host the webinar: Improving Access to Nutritious Food in Urban Markets. Open to all city practitioners working with food systems, as well as those interested in improving the uptake of nutritious products and build resilient food systems, this session offers both insights and actionable tools.
Urban areas face growing challenges in ensuring food and nutrition security due to rapid urbanisation, climate change, and rising socio-economic inequalities. Food markets, which provide affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food, are uniquely positioned to address these issues. By aligning efforts across sectors and government levels, cities can transform markets into powerful tools to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition.
The webinar will feature insights from ICLEI CityFood and GAIN, alongside an expert keynote from Kristie Daniel, Director of HealthBridge’s Livable Cities program, (afternoon session) and Tran Thi Kieu Thanh Ha, Manager of HealthBridge’s Livable Cities program in Vietnam (morning session).
Join us on 3 December. The webinar will be held in two time slots to accommodate participants worldwide:
- Session I: 10:00–11:15 CEST, with presentations from Bogor, Indonesia and Brasov, Romania (held in English). Register here.
- Session II: 15:00–16:15 CEST, with presentations from Mérida, Mexico and Lilongwe, Malawi, (held in English, Portuguese, and Spanish). Register here.
